Emmy nominated actress and trans activist Laverne Cox was just named one of People Magazine‘s World’s Most Beautiful People for 2015!
This is fresh off the heels of taking our breath away with a gorgeous and daring nude photo shoot for Allure last week:
Of the shoot, Cox explained to Allure:
“I said no initially, thought about it, and said no again. But I’m a black transgender woman. I felt this could be really powerful for the communities that I represent. Black women are not often told that we’re beautiful unless we align with certain standards. Trans women certainly are not told we’re beautiful. Seeing a black transgender woman embracing and loving everything about herself might be inspiring to some other folks. There’s beauty in the things we think are imperfect. That sounds very cliché, but it’s true.”
This has been a groundbreaking year for Cox, who, in addition to returning to co-star in Netflix’s acclaimed prison dramedy “Orange Is The New Black” later this year, also landed a costarring role in the pilot for a CBS legal drama “Doubt”.
The stunning and talented Cox also broke boundaries by becoming the first trans woman to grace the cover of Time Magazine last year.
If that isn’t beauty, I don’t know what is!
